Occupational Health and Safety is a cross-disciplinary service to protect the safety, health and welfare of people engaged in work as well as the public that would be affected by the activities of the workplace.
The goal of all occupational health and safety programs is to foster a safe and healthy work environment for all employees and to detect negative effects of the specific workplace hazards.

The following will be done annually:
Medical surveillance
1.Pre-employment Medical examination.
2.Periodic Medical examination.
3.Exit Medical examination.
-The above test are informed by the risk assessment of the company as well as Walk-Through Survey done by the Occupational Health Practitioner or as per individual clients requirement.
-The occupational Health service provider can do walk-through survey to confirm the identified risks in other to ensure appropriate test that should be conducted.
-The medical examination return date will be based on the identified hazards.
-The occupational Risk Exposure Profile will be drawn together with Medical Surveillance program.
Medical Examination Tests
Social and Occupational History.
-Medical History.
-Audiogram Spirometry Vision test.
-Physical examination.
-Urinalysis.
-Weight ,height and body mass index.
-Blood Pressure and Pulse Abdominal circumference Blood glucose(i.e. if necessary)
-Medical advise Issue the fitness certificate.
Outcome Of The Medical Examination
Temporary unfit
-The employee with medical conditions which are manageable and short term in nature. This employee will be fit once the problem has been treated These employee will be referred to the nearest clinic/Dr or As per the agreement the Occupational health Practitioner can treat these employee should if need be.
Fit
-The employee is fit to perform duties as indicated in the man job spec(MJS)
Unfit
-The employee is permanently unfit to do the job as per MJS
-Fit with reduced efficiency(people with disabilities).
-Referral to the Dr will be done The employee is fit to do the job but with reduced efficiency and will need assistance. e.g . employees with disabilities
Record Keeping And Employment Equity
-Medical surveillance files will be kept in a confidential, fire and water proof area and it will be retained for 40 years and the company can take employee with reduced efficiency as disable for Employment Equity reasons
-Exit Fitness Certificate.
During Exit medical Exit fitness certificate will be issued as well as the baseline audiogram and Exit Audiogram
Disease Prevention And Health Promotions
-Health education and health promotions will be done through the posters, group sessions and email list.
-Awareness campaigns related to health calendar and health risks in the workplace.
-Individual sessions will be done as well during Medical Examination.
-There are many Occupational Health Programs which can be provided depending on the hygiene survey, e.g. hearing , fatigue and ergonomics program.
